Although San Francisco may not be known specifically for its French culture the way its Italian, Irish and Chinese history and culture are known, the City's francophiles show how much San Francisco loves its French connections as they pack the streets of downtown for block parties each Bastille Day!

Bastille Day is sort of like France’s equivalent July 4th – an historical day commemorating the storming of the Bastille (a fortress prison) on July 14, 1789 that is seen as a symbol of the uprising of a modern nation during the French Revolution.                                                                                                    

But honestly, this is one part celebration of French culture and nine parts party in the streets of San Francisco!
